Gussetless Bridge

Gusset Plates are a large maintenance cost on a truss bridge, however, removing the gusset plates to less crucial areas, and using splice type connections removes a large portion of that cost. Avoiding using gusset plates also helps to extend the life of the bridge. The truss members are connected by using custom fabricated, integral knuckle joints; rather than more traditional gusset plates. This helped reduce the cost of construction and may help to extend the service life of the bridge.
